Okay, I know this movie came out last year, and it was a pretty popular one and even got rave reviews. I was skeptical. To my defense I am skeptical of any movie that deals with ancestry or history because of how off a lot of them are. The movie Coco however was amazing, even my boys who are three and two and my baby daughter (11 months) love the movie (though I contribute that last to all the bright and vivid colors). The music is beautiful, the story is moving, and the characters are whimsical, what's not to like.
I don't want to give it away for those who haven't seen it yet, but it's about family, deep connections, forgiveness, and love. Every Genealogist I have met has a need to find a connection to their ancestors...or find similarities in themselves to the past. When we find it that connection to our ancestor's becomes personal. For me, I get emotional and feel like I know my ancestors when I learn of a connection we shared, a like, a dislike, a illness, or a special talent etc.
SO if you haven't watched Coco yet, I highly recommend renting it OR watching it on Netflix.
:D
